Here in Texas we have few reminders that Christmas is on it's way. We have no snow and the temps have been in the mid 60's. So it will be nice to be able to work on my December Daily and have daily reminders that Christmas is near.
My photo from yesterday was of a wreath I was making for my mom. She chose the prettiest white ribbon with snowflakes on it. For the first page, I used Ali Edward's 6X8 overlays and re-sized the Day 1 overlay them to fit my album. I used a transparency that came with the Making Memories album. I hand wrote the journaling on cream colored cardstock, added Tim Holtz tissue tape, sheer red ribbon and some of the ribbon from my mom's wreath to the second page. I'm really looking forward to seeing this year's December Daily come together.
I had a really great time working on this month's DT challenge over at More Paper Than Shoes. Halloween is one of my most favorite times of the year. Anna challenged us to not use orange or yellow. What??? What is Halloween without orange right? Well, it was a challenge not to use orange but I made it work. I focused on purple, green and black. The challenge requirements were ribbon, glitter, a handmade flower, and embossing.
I used an svg file to cut the banner bases from Co'ordinations cardstock. The Co'ordinations Core Couture paper has glitter already in it! It was perfect for this project. I used crepe paper to made the medallions and to string the banner. I cut out the cat, spider, cauldron, and a raven from the October 31st Cricut cartridge. I added some American Crafts ribbon and a few Making Memories embellishments. I used Tim Holtz texture fades as the embossing part of the challenge to complete the project. Of course I can't create anything without using Tim Holtz somewhere in the project!
Head on over to the MPTS blog to check out the other fabulous projects created by the design team.
It's hard for me to believe it's already September. Maybe because it's still in the mid to high 90's here in Texas. Maybe because I have such a hard time letting summer go. I do enjoy the fall. The weather cools down enough that we can spend time outside without roasting. The lawn turns from brown to green again. Trees start losing leaves. And of course football starts! Those were some of the things I thought about when Anna gave us the September challenge over at MPTS. The challenge was Rusty Bucket. We had to incorporate metal or twine and torn paper. I had to enlist the help of my hubby on this one to turn a regular looking bucket rustic. Here is what I came up with:
The entire design team did an awesome with this months challenge. You can see their creations here: MPTS blog.

I just wanted to share some pictures of a mini I made for a small swap between myself, my sister-in-law Megan and her aunt Helen. I chose the Mariposa paper collection from DCWV. This paper pack has beautiful papers and I knew it was perfect for Helen.

Hey there fellow scrappers. My sister Michelle (a scrapper herself) delivered her first baby on Monday morning. Unfortunately there were complications with both mom and baby. Michelle lost a lot of blood and had to have a transfusion. Her platelets are still low and may have to stay in the hospital longer than we though. Baby Sophia is in the NICU and will be there for at least 3 weeks. She has meconium aspiration. She had to have a chest tube put in because of a collapsed lung and is on a high frequency vent. We are asking for prayers for Sophia and Michelle. We have created a facebook page for Sophia. Please visit the page and pray for my sweet niece and sister.

Please bear with me while I make a few changes to my blog. I've had a couple of different looks over the last week or so. So far I'm liking the white background the best. Let me know what y'all think.
It's been a long time since I had any desire to do a 12x12 layout. I mainly work on mini albums, ATCs and cards. But when I saw this Vintage Valentine paper from Fancy Pants, I thought I'd give it a go.
I made the flower myself from some satin ribbon. It's hard to see but I also have a layer of Bazzill tulle on top of the strip of satin ribbon.
It's a fairly simple layout but I'm pleased with it. I probably won't put it in an album. I'm hoping to find a nice frame to hang it in. Thanks for stopping by!
